It's another round of Lauren's Library! Want to discover a few of the titles I loved this month? I won't keep you in suspense any longer ...
Dr. Strange Beard by Penny Reid
I am a huge fan of Penny Reid's quirky intelligent characters, and this new release did not disappoint! Plus, the trope of a childhood friendship, where one is secretly pining after the other, is my catnip. This book checked so many boxes for me: bearded men, a woman with badass fighting skills, puppies, donuts ... I could go on, but I don't want to give everything away. Read it!
Again the Magic by Lisa Kleypas
I read this entire book in one day (well technically two because I stayed up past midnight to finish it, but you know what I mean). This story reached into my chest and wrapped a fist around my poor innocent heart, demanding I experience every iota of devastation and love spilling out of these characters. Another childhood friends story, which is probably what enabled the hooks to be set so deep in the first place. I bow to you Lisa Kleypas; you are a master.
Creative Quest by Questlove
This book inspired some introspection about my own creative process. Questlove explores the elusive idea of what creativity actually means and the many different ways it can be approached. I particularly liked the discussion of meditation, and how a slightly unfocused mind might result in better ideas. It's good stuff!
That's it for this round of Lauren's Library.
Best,
Lauren
